CARE GUIDE

Genius weft hair extensions are designed for a seamless, lightweight finish, but proper care is key to maintaining their look and longevity. A consistent routine helps preserve the weft, prevent shedding, and extend their lifespan, keeping them soft, smooth, and naturally blended.

UNDERSTANDING YOUR GENIUS WEFTS
Genius Wefts feature a thin polyurethane (PU) spine that makes them durable, flat, and customisable without shedding or fraying. However, because the PU is adhesive-based, it can break down if exposed to unsuitable products or conditions. This may result in shedding, stickiness, or weft weakening. Proper care is essential to maintain the longevity of your genius weft hair extensions.

GENIUS WEFT PU SPINE PROTECTION
• Avoid alcohol-based products, heavy oils, silicones, sulfates, acetone or strong chemical removers
• Do not apply conditioner, oils or dry shampoo directly to the PU area
• Avoid over-washing or aggressive scrubbing
• Do not apply high or direct heat to the PU area

TO MAINTAIN SOFTNESS AND MINIMISE TANGLING OR SHEDDING
• Use only gentle, sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners
• Avoid alcohols, parabens, phosphates, propanol, and proteins (e.g. wheat, silk amino acids)
• Use toning shampoos (purple, blue, or silver) sparingly

WASHING, DRYING AND STYLING
• Wash 2–3 times per week to prevent product build-up
• Avoid over-washing, which can cause dryness and tangling
• Focus shampoo on the scalp and let it rinse through the lengths
• Do not brush when wet as hair is more fragile
• Air-dry whenever possible
• Always apply a heat protectant before styling and use low–medium heat
• Direct airflow down the hair shaft to reduce frizz and tangling

SLEEPING
• Ensure hair is completely dry before bed
• Loosely braid or tie in a low ponytail to prevent matting
• Use a silk or satin pillowcase to reduce friction

SWIMMING, SUN AND TANNING
• Rinse hair before swimming to minimise chlorine or salt absorption
• Secure hair in a braid or low ponytail
• Rinse after swimming and apply conditioner or a lightweight oil
• Limit sun exposure, as it can cause dryness and colour fading
• Avoid sunscreen and fake tan contact to prevent discolouration

COLOURING AND CHEMICAL SERVICES
• Avoid bleaching, perming, or chemical straightening
• Only allow colouring or toning by a qualified extension specialist
• Always perform a strand test before any chemical service
