CARE GUIDE

Genius Weft hair extensions are designed for a seamless, lightweight finish, but proper care is essential to maintaining their beauty and longevity. A consistent care routine helps protect the weft, minimise shedding and extend its lifespan, keeping your extensions soft, smooth and beautifully blended.

UNDERSTANDING YOUR GENIUS WEFTS

Genius Wefts feature an ultra-thin polyurethane (PU) spine designed to create a flat, discreet and comfortable finish. With the right care, your extensions can stay soft, smooth and beautifully blended while helping to maintain the integrity of the weft.

Because the PU spine can be sensitive to certain products, chemicals and heat, following the correct care routine is essential for maintaining the longevity and performance of your Genius Wefts.

PU SPINE PROTECTION

To protect the PU spine and help prevent weakening or breakdown:
• Avoid alcohol-based styling products, heavy oils, silicones, acetone and strong chemical removers.
• Do not apply conditioner, oils or dry shampoo directly to the PU spine.
• Avoid excessive washing or aggressive scrubbing.
• Never apply high or direct heat to the PU area.

KEEPING YOUR HAIR SOFT & TANGLE-FREE

• Use gentle, extension-friendly shampoos and conditioners.
• Avoid harsh or heavily clarifying products that may dry the hair.
• Use toning shampoos such as purple, blue or silver sparingly.
• Brush gently and regularly to help prevent tangling and matting.

WASHING, DRYING & STYLING

WASH
Wash your extensions approximately 2–3 times per week, depending on your hair type and lifestyle.

Focus shampoo on your scalp and allow the suds to gently rinse through the lengths. Avoid scrubbing or rubbing the extensions.

DRY
Gently squeeze out excess water and avoid brushing the hair while it is soaking wet.

Air-dry whenever possible. If blow-drying, use a low–medium heat setting and direct the airflow down the hair shaft.

STYLE
Always apply a suitable heat protectant before using heated styling tools. Keep heat away from the PU spine and avoid prolonged exposure to high temperatures.

SLEEPING

A few simple steps before bed can help prevent tangling and matting:

• Make sure your hair is completely dry before sleeping.
• Gently brush through your extensions before bed.
• Loosely braid your hair or secure it in a low ponytail.
• Sleep on a silk or satin pillowcase to help reduce friction.

SWIMMING, SUN & TANNING

Chlorine, salt water, UV exposure and tanning products can affect both the condition and colour of your extensions.

• Rinse your hair with fresh water before swimming.
• Secure your hair in a loose braid or low ponytail.
• Rinse thoroughly after swimming.
• Apply a suitable conditioner or lightweight oil to the lengths after swimming.
• Limit prolonged sun exposure to help prevent dryness and colour fading.
• Avoid contact with sunscreen and fake tan, as these products can cause unwanted pink, orange or other colour discolouration.

COLOURING & CHEMICAL SERVICES

Your extensions should always be treated with care when it comes to colour and chemical services.

• Avoid bleaching, perming or chemical straightening of the extensions.
• Only have your extensions coloured or toned by a qualified extension specialist.
• Always perform a strand test before applying colour or toner.
• Colour should never be applied directly to the PU spine.

Please note: Colouring extensions can affect their condition and longevity. We recommend discussing any colour changes with your extension specialist first.
